David Matsumoto is a world-renowned expert in the fields of emotion, nonverbal behavior, deception, and culture. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1981, double majoring in psychology and Japanese, and his Masters (1983) and Doctoral (1986) degrees in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. He has been a Professor of Psychology at San Francisco State University (SFSU) since 1989, and is the Founder and Director of SFSU's Culture and Emotion Research Laboratory. He has produced over 400 academic works, including books, journal articles, book chapters, and conference presentations. His books include well-known titles such as the APA HANDBOOK OF NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION (ed.), NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION: SCIENCE AND APPLICATION (ed.), the CAMBRIDGE DICTIONARY OF PSYCHOLOGY (ed.), CROSS-CULTURAL RESEARCH METHODS IN PSYCHOLOGY (ed.), the APA HANDBOOK OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION (ed.), the APA HANDBOOK OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION (ed.), and THE HANDBOOK OF CULTURE AND PSYCHOLOGY (ed.). What follows is an entertaining guide through the processes of planning, organizing, and carrying out the "project." The concepts put forth by the authors can be adapted to most projects of most magnitudes. The table of contents, which is a list of steps to follow, includes phrases/chapter titles such as "Proact, Not Act!" Much of what the authors present is common sense, and they have pulled it together in a charming and nonthreatening manner. After reading this book, one should certainly feel more confident about taking on projects, if not moving a zoo. For all types of libraries.

Innovative perspective toward project management lessons

Excellent book for PM, project participants and whoever is going to be participate directly or indirectly in life project. Present the project management culture and technique from a life sample of Zoo Dismantling project. It gave me an insights of project management in a very different angle ¡V (as I used to read a lot of project management books for both work practice and study purposes). I am really impressed at the creativity and knowledge of these two authors.
Highly recommend to all level of project managers.

As you follow the short chapters, different project management issues are covered practically and comprehensively. Although the book was written a while ago it is no less relevant. Deeply inspiring and encouraging read

For the lay person this book weaves a fascinating narrative of the work of God through a handful of believers in difficult circumstances. It challenges one to be more available to God, to prioritisethe Gospel and to persevere through every trial. For the Pastor or missionary , it leaves one in awe of the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of ordinary people through the faithful means of teaching, prayer and complete dependence on God. It inspires one to deeper prayer and trust in God and His purposes. Val Nowan has managed to tell a story that is both historically well founded and enightening, as well as spiritually instructive and moving. Well worth reading again. Carol Bailie.

It is well written and is difficult to put down. how little we understand true devotion to the Great Commission. A must read for all who beleve in missions and all who truly lovd the Lord.

Harry vient de passer un autre pénible été chez son oncle et sa tante, sans nouvelles de ses amis ni du monde de la magie. Autrefois admis en héros à l'école des sorciers, il y est accueilli plutôt tièdement en cette cinquième année. C'est que le ministère de la Magie ne veut plus rien entendre des prétendues menaces de mort qui planent sur Harry Potter. Harry's Transition to Adulthood, Growing French Level

This is, again, a perfect means to improve your French grammar for any anglophone who has fallen in love with the series in English. Reading it in French is just as pleasurable as in English, as the translation is superb. The names of characters, in particular, make this book worth the read in French. Furthermore, as the series progresses to have a more adult overtone, the level of French becomes more grammatically difficult, allowing for better incorporation of the French language. By no means is this book difficult to read in French, yet it is a perfect way, again, to improve your language skills as well as to reenter the world of Harry Potter!

I bought it used, but there were just a few bent pages and it was otherwise in perfect condition. I'm in my fourth year of high school French, but I can understand it without a dictionary; I would recommend using a dictionary or side-by-side reading with the English version though, you can be sure you're not mistranslating words from the context. The translation is pretty direct, and it's fun to read. Looking forward to getting the other books in the series as soon as I finish this one.

About the Author
Jean Jacques Machado is one of the five brothers of the world renowned Brazilian jiu-jitsu family. He is the author of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and Championship Techniques and he has appeared in the motion pictures Force of the Spirit and Redbelt. He lives in Los Angeles. Jay Zeballos is a black belt under Jean Jacques Machado and is active as a competitor, teacher, and student. He is a cofounder of Lo9on, Inc., a website design company that developed and manages the Jean Jacques Global Online Training Program. He lives in Quartz Hill, California. They are the coauthors of The Grappler s Handbook: Gi and No-Gi Techniques.

Very good book on the grappling defense...with gi

I just borrowed this book from the local library. It is well written with numerous pictures. It covers both basic BJJ defensive techniques as well as multiple variations to escape common dominant position. JJ Machado shows his true mastery of brazilian jiu-jitsu.

I am giving it four stars instead of five for a few little things. First, all the pictures are with the instructors wearing a gi. Second, while some of the techniques can be used for no-gi grappling or MMA, the book does not specify which ones until you read thru the captions. While comprehensive, it seems to primarily focus on traditional grappling with a gi at the expense of other methods.

Nevertheless, I am impressed and find it useful. It should be considered as a supplement if you have a martial arts library.

One of the best reference materials I've had the pleasure of reading. I take the style jiu jitsu seriously. Therefore my game is massively defense based. Literally gentle. This book not only fine tuned my existing defensive tools, it has completely rewritten them. I cant recommend this book enough. A must have for ANY serious grappled.

Despite the fact that this is volume 2, it is the most relevant book a beginner can read. Don't hesitate to start with this book before volume 1. The approach is instructional.
