What Conan Doyle failed to tell

The detective is not as sucessful in this story as he was in the tales of Conan Doyle, and the funny situations keep showing up in this delightful story by Jo Soares. You cannot miss this!

San Ignacio de Loyola nació hacia 1491, en el castillo de Loyola en Azpeitia, Guipúzcoa. Mas bien es solo un resumen. Si buscas los ejercicios espirituales, no pierdas tu tiempo ni dinero con esto.
NO SON los ejercicios espirituales de San Ignacio. Ni siquiera tienen indice o navegacion! Horriblemente hecho, lleno de errores y una lastima que lo tengan a la venta. Parece que lo convirtieron de un pdf lleno de errores. Un niño haria un mejor trabajo en hacer un libro para kindle.

About the Author
Since receiving his Ph.D. from The University of Notre Dame, Ralph Bravaco has been a member of the faculty of Stonehill College, where he has taught more than a dozen computer science courses ranging from introductory programming to compiler design. Shai Simonson earned his B.A. in mathematics at Columbia University and M.S. and Ph.D in computer science at Northwestern University.

Good read, but contains stupid mistakes

I'll start by saying that the book is a very good introduction into OOP. The writer has a very good writing style that slowly introduces readers into common computer jargon, rather than saturating them in it from the very beginning. Though this style may be criticized by some, I believe it is what makes this book a very strong read. Also, the author does a very good job of including an array of exercises at the end of each chapter, ranging from error correction problems, to actual projects. The only big problem that I had with the book was the random typos that can be found throughout. The author seemed to either be in a hurry, or just didn't care when typing out some of the program examples. Chapter 11, in particular, was riddled with inconsistent variable names, and syntax errors. What I mean to say is that the author would label a variable as one name, but half-way down the page he would reference the variable using a different name. This might be seen as miniscule, but it can become very confusing for a beginner.

An Excellent Introduction

I used this book in an Introduction to Computer Science course. I have already done a lot of programming, though not in Java, so the material conceptually was not new to me. I enjoyed the book and I found it to be engaging and humorous.
My wife also took the course, and she had never programmed before. She really enjoyed the book, and she has learned a ton from it. She found the explanations to be help and not boring. She is a bit concerned that our next computer science class will not be as enjoyable because there will be a different textbook.

Java programming book is reliable, but a bit confusing

I utilized this book in my CSE class at Miami University. Reading the book seemed a bit confusing, however the examples helped somewhat.
