About the Author
MariAnne Dibbley has taught English/ESL for over 15 years in a variety of contexts, including university, middle school, and ESL school settings. In 1999, she established the California English Language Academy to teach ESL to the local community. During the school's ten years of operation, she frequently wrote her own curriculum. She has a Masters of Arts degree in Intercultural Communication from the University of California and is currently working on a PhD in Intercultural Education at Biola University.

Looking forward to using it

I have done a lot of ESL teaaching in Thailand and struggle especially when my student has zero English background; I have yet to see a circulumn that will work in this way! As a second-language learner myself I know how much better pictures work to build the base of language - the fall-back is typically reverting to explaining in the learners native language, and that method doesn't stick like making images in the brain that then get attached to words.

I fully expect to write another review of success. But the best part is the God-centered, solid bible teaching that is used to teach English! May many grow in love for God; may many become worshippers through this book! Which is even better than mastery of Eglish!

Not a Progressive Classroom Text

The author obviously put a lot of time and effort into this book. The pictures and printing quality are very good. However, I don't believe this is a book that a teacher would want to work through progressively with students. The level of the content on the pages is very inconsistent throughout. For example, page 66 covers transitive and intransitive verbs, while page 191 finally introduces "survival English" such as "please," "thank you," and "Excuse me." Some of the grammar explanations in the book get very technical and complicated- I am a certified ESL teacher but was unfamiliar with some of the terms used.

This book may work as a grammar reference for advanced ESL students, if the teacher wants to pick and choose pages to use in class. Also, some of the basic vocabulary pages could be used with beginning level students, but you would have to be careful not to confuse or discourage them with the more difficult content.

In general I did not care for the presentation of the Biblical content, as it seemed to jump back and forth between stories in the Old and New Testaments. However, there were a few pages that I did like, that seemed at an appropriate level for ESL students. I liked the story of the Good Samaritan on pg. 71 and the attributes of God on pg. 128. I suppose some of the Biblical content could be used as a reference for students, when level appropriate.

My favorite part of the book is the last section, written for teachers, with various classroom activities. There's a lot of good ideas here that I think would go over well in the classroom.

My suggestion for an ESL teacher looking to incorporate Biblical content into an ESL class would be to make use of some great resources in the students' native language, such as the film "The Hope" or "The Jesus film." Also, bilingual Bibles can be used in an ESL class as a great way to help students understand the Bible in their native language.

Learning and Teaching tool that is also a Work of Art

Not only is this book beautiful, like a piece of art, it has so much value! It is a one of a kind resource. Using the Bible and pictures to teach English is an amazing way to help people learn the language and learn about the Bible, God's word. I'm looking forward to taking this book with me to Kenya this month, and sharing it with the teachers at the school where I will be volunteering.

Elise Forier Edie is a professional playwright and author. (NEWBIE review) Good music, could be better presented

The music available is great.

Although I am new to classical guitar, some of the fingering provided seems erratic. This may be my novice misunderstanding though.

The real problem I had with the book is that some of the pieces, the Menuetts in particular, are not fully named. It took me longer than I like to admit to find which Menuett was Menuett in D Minor, BWV Anh. 132.

As someone who likes to browse through my tab books with YouTube up to discern which pieces I'd like to learn, this was frustrating.

I have the paper copy of this, and it is quite good. The tunes are relatively simple to play and it is generally nicely laid out. Unlike the other reviewers kindle copy this one is easy to use and clearly laid out.

Don't waste your money on the Kindle version!

Total waste of money.
I can't speak about the actual book, or the content, but I purchased the kindle version of this, and it is AWFUL. Amazon needs to set some quality standards here. The font is WAY too small to see, and when I try to zoom in it only gets more blurry. I spent 10 minutes reading through one piece, and had to continuously zoom around the screen to see when my hands should have been on the guitar, and even then I got a headache from the blurriness. It is apparent that the publisher couldn't care less about the ability of its customers to actually use this book, but instead wanted to rush the product to market. My FREE multifunction printer/scanner could do a better job of making legible digital copies of this music.
This was the first bit of music I ordered for kindle (on my ipad), and it will probably be the last, unless in the future someone can assure me that things have changed.
Don't waste your money. Can I return this?

Great Read, Great Author

As the wife of a SEAL myself I was intrigued as to how the author was going to portray the character and the career. I have to say that although the lead character, Maverick, is the "outlier" in the SEAL community the character traits and tendencies of this man are accurate descriptions of many of these men. At times I was absolutely overcome with laughter at the witty banter between the men; this is so SPOT ON its crazy. Rachel's writing style is raw, unadulterated, crude at times and clever. AND.I.LOVE.IT. Its so refreshing to step outside the normal "cookie cutter" romance novels into a novel that is equally evocative as it is interesting. Depicting the real scenarios in combat that a SEAL may and do actually face is a twist to a romance novel that i have yet to read. Some of the scenes were intense and close to home, and evoked an emotion in me that I sometimes want to stifle. Nevertheless, the fact that a book can simultaneously make you want to jump your husbands bones, laugh, cry, cringe, and thank a veteran is a skill not easily achieved by many authors. Rachel's knowledge and skill for writing is growing with each book, and such my fan level for her is growing as well. This is a great book. I fed my kids popcorn for breakfast one morning because I didn't want to stop reading it and fix them a proper meal (ya, ya i know.) If you are looking for an out of the box military read, a strong alpha male lead character, sultry romance, and crass/hysterical underlying tones then this is a must read.

This book... Man, where do I even begin?!?!

Not gonna lie, I tried the sample of this book (along with a few others) because I got tired of buying books people loved but I ended up hating... I read the sample, and thought about it for a couple days before I decided to actually buy it. needless to say, I bought it. 12 hours ago.

I read this book nonstop. Every free second I had, my kindle was open and I was reading. And laughing. And cringing. And crying. Lots and lots of crying. its been a while since I've ugly cried while reading a book... And it just so happened I bawled on my lunch break while reading this one! (Don't worry, I blamed it on allergies!)

The chemistry between the characters is off the charts. The banter was hilarious and the love they had for one another was out of this world.

It comes with a lot of amazing life advice thrown in there... And I'm a sucker for those sappy lines!
